Introduction

Seed Science and Technology

Seed Science and Technology is an essential agricultural curriculum that deals with quality seed aspects. The curriculum covers all the elements of seeds, from seed production to seed marketing. Seeds are a vital input in agriculture, and the supply of quality seed is essential to achieve higher productivity

Why this Programme?

  • To conduct basic and applied research towards the development of agriculture and finding solutions to address the state-level problems.
  • To train the students to disseminate sustainable research outcomes to the farmers.
  • To impart knowledge, training and skills to the students to develop as successful entrepreneurs and build their capacities to meet the farmers’ and industry needs.

Master’s in Agricultural Microbiology

Master Course Work

After receipt of admission, the student has to undergo coursework for two semesters in the first year to understand the basics of seed science and technology. A total of 40 credits of coursework should be completed, with 20 credits from the major department.

Master's Thesis Research

A student will start his PG research program in the second year, for which a specialised faculty member will be allotted as chairman. The chairman and the other advisory members, along with two members, will form an advisory committee. After approval from the Dean of PG studies, the committee will formulate and guide the student in PG research in the student’s area of interest and complete 30 research credits. After completion of research work, a thesis is compiled and submitted based on the research findings.
