Mandate: 

  • To generate and evolve early and medium duration high yielding rice varieties possessing multiple resistance to major pest and diseases.
  • To generate and evolve early and medium duration high yielding cold tolerant rice varieties for Rabi season.
  • To develop high-yielding sugarcane varieties (both in early and mid-late group with other desirable agronomic attributes with tolerance to pest and diseases.
  • To develop sugarcane varieties with good ratoonability
  • To test and introduce the Coimbatore sugarcane through AICRP(S) programme.
  • To identify need based cropping systems for Nizamsagar project area
  • To develop high yielding soybean varieties with quality and multiple resistance
  • To evaluate of soybean genotypes for tolerance to pre-harvest sprouting
  • To find out the best suitable level of NPK fertilization for maximum yield and juice quality of pre-release sugarcane clone under testing
  • To sustain soil and crop productivity through appropriate integrated nutrient management (INM) techniques
  • To find out the suitable management practices for maximizing yield of sugarcane
  • To find out suitable equipment’s for sugarcane mechanization
  • To identify suitable irrigation practices for improving water use efficiency
  • To carryout crop residue management in sugarcane
  • To identify and evaluate alternative cropping systems for improving productivity and profitability.
  • To screen sugarcane, rice, and soybean germplasm/entries against insect pests
  • To undertake incidence of pests based on changes in weather parameters.
  • Varietal development for high yield and quality in Sugarcane, Rice and Soybean.
  • Enhancement of soil health for sustainable yields
