The main objectives of the Diploma courses are:
- To impart theoretical and practical training to the SSC (10th class) passed students to develop skilled manpower in agriculture.
- To provide technical manpower to the Government sectors/NGOs/Agro-based Industries etc.
- To provide an opportunity to these students to get admission into professional degree courses viz., B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) through AGRICET and AGRIENGGCET entrance examinations, respectively, conducted by the
University every year. - The diploma courses were started with an objective to impart skill-oriented training and knowledge in agriculture at the grassroots level to SSC passed students to enable them to serve the farming community and also to give them the thought to become entrepreneurs.

Eligibility criteria:
- The candidates who wish to seek admission into Diploma Courses of PJTAU should have qualified in TG-POLYCET under the Agricultural stream conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Hyderabad.
- Candidate should have passed SSC Examination conducted by State Board of Secondary Education, T.S./A.P. or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto by the Board of Secondary Education, T.S./A.P. such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open School (NIOS), Telangana Open School Society(TOSS), A.P. Open School Society (APOSS), X Class Examination conducted by various State Boards of Secondary Education in India with Science as one of the subjects, and obtained at least 35% marks in
the qualifying examination as applicable. - Age: The candidates for admission into the first year Diploma Courses in the University shall be required to have completed 15 years of age as on 31 st December of the year of admission, with an upper age limit of 22 years.
- There are 5 polytechnics (Three in Agriculture, one in Organic Agriculture, and one in Agricultural Engineering) under the private sector affiliated to PJTAU.
- Ekalavya Organic Agriculture Polytechnic is the first organic farming polytechnic established and affiliated to PJTAU during the year 2018.
- The total intake of students in University Polytechnics is 260, and in Private Polytechnics is 300. Thus the total number of students admitted every year is 560.
Selection Process
Admissions are based on ranks obtained in the TG-POLYCET entrance exam being conducted by the State Board of
Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana, every year.
- Online applications shall be called for by placing the notification along with the prescribed application form and prospectus on the University website www.pjtau.edu.in after declaration of the 10 th class and TG-POLYCET results.
- Eligible candidates should apply online in the prescribed application form and upload required copies of certificates as per the guidelines given in the prospectus, along with payment of the prescribed application fee.
- Admission of candidates into various polytechnics shall be through an offline counselling conducted at the University based on merit of the ranks obtained in TG-POLYCET and the rule of reservation. The schedule of counselling shall be placed on the University website (www.pjtau.edu.in) before its commencement.
Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from Rural Areas:
- Sixty per cent (60%) of the seats in various diploma courses of PJTAU are reserved forĀ candidates who have studied for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas during their period of study from 1 st class to 10 th class (Proof to be submitted in ANNEXURE-I)
- ANNEXURE-I (Non-Municipal Area Certificate): It is a proforma to be certified by the Headmaster(s) of the School(s) with his/their office seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of four years in school(s) located in Non-Municipal areas during his/her period of study from 1 st to 10 th class.
- If ANNEXURE-I is not filled in or duly signed by the concerned Head(s) of Institution(s) or officer(s) along with the office seal, the claim of the candidates will be rejected under the Rural Area category.
