The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including the Natural Dye Processing & Incubation Center and an ISO-certified Textile Testing Laboratory, which support research in areas such as natural dyes, functional and protective clothing, healthcare textiles, technical textiles, and eco-friendly textile production. Research initiatives have included value-added products from agro-based fibres, the utilisation of silk and polyester waste, garment design for differently-abled individuals, and the development of innovative textile finishes, such as organic nano-antimicrobial treatments. These efforts reflect the department’s commitment to advancing both scientific knowledge and practical applications in the textile and apparel sectors.

Alumni of the department have secured diverse and distinguished career paths in academia, industry, research, and entrepreneurship. They include professors at NIFT at the national level, faculty members at premier fashion design institutes such as HAMSTECH, and Assistant Professors in central and state agricultural universities, including ANGRAU, OUAT (Odisha), Padmavathi University, UP, and Madurai. Graduates also serve as research associates, managers in design studios, supervisors in textile mills, and entrepreneurs establishing garment units, boutiques, and textile production enterprises.
