- To develop high yielding varieties of greengram & blackgram with desirable traits and duration suitable to all seasons / specific farming situations.
- To produce nucleus & breeder seed of varieties released from the station in pulses, as assigned by the university and to act as source centre for assigned pulse crop seeds.
- To update the production technology of pulses from time to time and popularize the growing, production and productivity of pulses among the farming community in the region.

- Development of high yielding greengram /blackgram varieties with desirable traits and duration to all season/specific situation.
- Breeder /Foundation certified seed production in Greengram/ Blackgram / Sorghum/ rice.
- Impact of natural farming on soil health and productivity in Redgram-Greengram cropping system
- Weed management in Blackgram and Greengram
- Fields screening of Greengram /Blackgram/Jowar entries for major insect pests.
- Evaluation of insecticides against sucking pests in greengram and Blackgram.
- Studies in different dates of sowing in Blackgram under in Cotton-Blackgram cropping system

- Agricultural Research Station Madhira till now five varieties in greengram, two varieties in blackgram, two varieties in red gram and two varieties in Jowar have been released from the station and become popular along the farming community not only in Telanagana and also in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Orissa.
- In addition to regular research activities ARS, Madhira actively taking part in seed production of quality seed of greengram and blackgram varieties to different production centres in the state viz., TSSDC, KVK farms, NGO farms, State seed farms, Private seed growers etc every year to cover most of the pulses crop areaof 1.10 lakh hectares of greengram and 0.50 lakh hectares of black gram of the Telangana state
