It plays a crucial role in agricultural and rural development by bridging the gap between research, development, andthe farmer.Agricultural extension education involves practical application of scientificknowledge to improve farming practices and rural livelihoods.

Application and Admission
Are you interested in enrolling Ph.D. (Ag.) Agricultural Extension Applications are invited from eligible candidates who meet the required OGPA criteria. Admission will be announced through an open advertisement, and ICAR – Ph.D. admission entrance examination scores will be considered to screen and select candidates. The allocation of seats will follow the prescribed quotas, including those for EWS, community categories, and ICAR. Final seat allotments are made with the approval of the Dean (SPGS) and may vary depending on the availability of seats.

Doctoral in Agricultural Extension
Doctoral Course Work
Following admission, students undertake a structured set of courses designed to provide a foundational understanding of Agricultural Extension Education in accordance with the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The coursework carries a total credit load of 25 credits and is delivered over two semesters during the first year of the degree program.
Doctoral Thesis research
Upon successful completion of the coursework in the first year, students commence their thesis research. Each student is assigned an experienced faculty member to serve as the Chairperson of the Advisory Committee, subject to the approval of the Dean, School of Post-Graduate Studies. The Advisory Committee provides academic guidance and support in selecting a relevant research topic, ensuring the fulfilment of the required 27+1credit hours for the thesis component
Research internship
PhD students are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of scholarly activities, including presenting their research findings at national and international symposia, conferences, and academic workshops. These engagements are vital for enhancing their academic profile, receiving critical feedback, and fostering professional networks within the scientific community. Additionally, students are urged to contribute to peer-reviewed journals and collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects to broaden the scope and impact of their work.
