Aim of the Programme
- The doctoral programme in Agricultural Economics has been designed following the ICAR guidelines. The course imparts:
- An enabling environment for advanced academic and professional learning
- In-depth understanding of economic principles and their application, culminating in the submission of a research-based thesis
- Development of globally competent human resources in Agricultural Economics

Application and Admission
The candidates seeking admission into Ph.D. degree programme shall appear for the ICAR AICE conducted by NTA during the year of admission duly passing the qualifying examination prescribed. The detailed process of admission shall be provided in the Information Bulleting of that particular year of admission. Application for admission shall be made in the prescribed online form hosted on the University website pjtau.edu.in after the notification is issued by the Registrar of the University to this effect.

Doctoral Course Work
Department offers wide range of advanced major courses including advanced microeconomic analysis, advanced macroeconomic analysis, advanced agricultural production economics, advanced agricultural marketing, advanced econometrics, quantitative development policy analysis.
Doctoral thesis research
After completing the courses in the first year, the students start their thesis research. Each student is assigned to an experienced faculty, approved by the Dean of Post-Graduate Studies, who would guide the student on his/ her choice of research topic for a minimum of two years period.
