Agribusiness includes all activities involved in producing agri. commodities and seeing that they reach the ultimate consumer. Agribusiness which includes input, output and services sector both in the Government and Private domain, play a vital role in India becoming a global competitor in the area of agriculture and allied sectors. The sector of agribusiness requires well trained and professional manpower to execute various functions in an array of organizations which form part of this sector. Agribusiness management education can create informed professionals who can cater to the changing dynamics of the agriculture world and strive for the success of agri. enterprises.

    The School of Agribusiness Management, established in 2000, offers a two-year MBA (ABM) program for agriculture and allied science graduates. The program aims to develop ethical agribusiness professionals with innovative thinking, strong management foundations, and research-based problem-solving skills for the betterment of the farming community.

    Aim of the Programme

    The aim of School of Agribusiness Management is to impart professional and practical training to the students graduating from agricultural universities and allied institutions for managing various agribusinesses. The course would enable them to sharpen entrepreneurial skills, to confidently start and run enterprises, to get profitably employed in agribusiness organizations, to take up professional consultancy for public and private sector agribusiness enterprises and also to pursue research in the emerging aspects of agribusiness management.

    Application and Admission

    Admissions for the MBA (ABM) program are held in June/July through ICAR’s PG entrance exam, followed by group discussion and interview. Eligible candidates must hold a four-year degree in agriculture or allied sciences with a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST) or the required OGPA as per ICAR/VCI norms. Application dates are announced on the University website.

    Future Career

    A Master’s in Agribusiness equips graduates with the skills to pursue careers across the agricultural and food sectors. Graduates of SABM are working in the areas of marketing, sustainability, finance, supply chains, Agri-tech, insurance, food retail, precision farming and many more. Graduates of MBA (ABM) can pursue career in both public and private institutions, in various sectors like inputs, production and outputs. Academically oriented students can pursue doctoral programmes and build career in consultancy, business analytics and teaching.

    MBA (Agribusiness Management)

    Course Structure

    The course is structured into four semesters. The MBA (ABM) course curriculum is designed based on the course structure suggested by ICAR, on the structure adopted by premier institutes in the area and the inputs provided by the Industry. Core courses are offered during the first two semesters and in the third semester students are given option to choose 5 courses from the set of Elective – I courses and three courses from set of Elective – II courses. Fourth semester is devoted to carrying out project work in an agribusiness firm.
