Dr. K.B. Eswari, Ph.D.

Dr. Eswari has developed nine high-yielding pulse and millet varieties including Greengram (MGG 347, 348, 351, 385), Blackgram (MBG 207, 1070, 1073), Redgram (MRG 1004), and Jowar (MJ278). As Research Editor of ANGRAU’s Journal of Research, she elevated its NAAS rating from 1.0 to 3.86 and enabled global access via CABI.org. She was instrumental in strengthening PG programs across State Agricultural Universities by aligning them with ICAR-JRF/SRF standards — a first in the state.

Contributions & Achievements

  • Taught UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses in Genetics and Plant Breeding for over 15 years.

  • Guided 11 Master’s and 6 Doctoral students in various areas of plant breeding.

  • Served as co-chairman for several M.Sc. and Ph.D. research students.

  • Published 70+ research papers in national and international journals.

  • Achieved a total of 335 citations for her research work.

  • Contributed to revised UG and PG curricula in Genetics and Plant Breeding.

  • Reviewed PG e-learning course “Fundamentals of Biometrical Genetics” under NAHEP

    • A.V. Krishnaiah Memorial Gold Medal for Best Scientist in Agricultural Sciences.

    • Nagarajarao Gold Medal for outstanding research in pulse crops.

    • Best Poster Presentation Award by 93rd ISCA (Agriculture & Forestry Sciences).

    • Sri Shakthi Award for contributions to agricultural science.
