Dr. K. B. Eswari serves as the Dean of Postgraduate Studies at Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, bringing to the role a long record of academic leadership, research accomplishments and active engagement with postgraduate education. Her career reflects a blend of scientific contribution, editorial stewardship and dedicated service to teaching and curriculum advancement.
A distinguished pulse breeder, Dr. Eswari has contributed to the development of several important pulse varieties that are widely recognized in the state’s farming community. Among them are MGG 348, MGG 347, MGG 351, MGG 385, MBG 207, MBG 1070, MRG 1004 and the sorghum variety Jowar MJ 278. Her scientific output includes seventy research papers published in national and international journals, showcasing her sustained commitment to agricultural research.
Dr. Eswari has also made notable contributions to academic publishing and outreach. As Research Editor of the Journal of Research, ANGRAU, she played a key role in elevating its NAAS rating from 1.0 to 3.86. She facilitated the journal’s inclusion in the CABI Full Text Repository through a formal agreement with CABI.org (UK), increasing global accessibility for scholars and students. She additionally serves as Associate Editor for Vyavasayam, a popular Telugu agricultural monthly magazine.
Her teaching career spans fifteen years at he College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, where she taught undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. She has actively shaped postgraduate education as Technical Officer to the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, contributing to policy formulation, new regulations and multiple Board of Studies deliberations. She participated in curriculum revisions from the third to the sixth Deans’ syllabus updates and in the BSMA postgraduate reforms. Her contributions also extended to accreditation processes, e-learning reviews under NAHEP and examination work for state and national institutions.
As a mentor, Dr. Eswari has guided six doctoral scholars and eleven master’s students as major advisor, along with twelve more as co-advisor. Her guidance has supported a generation of young researchers entering agricultural science. Her achievements have been acknowledged through multiple awards, including the A.V. Krishnaiah Memorial Gold Medal for Best Scientist in Agricultural Sciences, the Nagaraja Rao Gold Medal for Pulse Research, recognitions from ISCA and ICAR-NRRI and several appreciations from university leadership for confidential assignments completed with integrity.
