Dr. M. Yakadri is a senior academician in the field of Agronomy with more than three decades of experience in teaching, research, extension, student development and institutional leadership. Born on 1st November 1966, he brings to Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University a career shaped by strong academic foundations and a sustained commitment to agricultural advancement. He holds a Ph.D. in Agronomy from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, where he completed his doctoral work as an ICAR Senior Research Fellow in 1993. He earned both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees with distinction from PJTAU and later expanded his skills through a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications. After a brief Service in ICAR as Scientist Agronomy (44th FCARPM) he joined in University.
Spanning over thirty-two years, his teaching career covers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He has developed course materials, text books, practical manuals and digital teaching tools and has contributed to introducing modern learning environments including AR–VR based instructional facilities.
His guidance to students has been significant, supervising fourteen master’s scholars and four doctoral candidates and serving as an external examiner for several agricultural universities across the country. He has also played an active role in curriculum restructuring through multiple committees and has supported academic enrichment initiatives as UG Academic In-Charge.
Dr. Yakadri’s administrative experience is equally noteworthy. As Associate Dean of the Agricultural College, Aswaraopet, he guided major improvements in instructional farm, student support services and campus infrastructure. He has led budget planning, civil works monitoring, NAAC processes, internal audits and committee responsibilities related to discipline, hostels and campus governance. His earlier roles as Professor, Principal Scientist, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor strengthened his understanding of institutional needs at different levels.
His extension activities have had wide field impact across Telangana. He organized more than five hundred frontline demonstrations in eight districts, promoted integrated crop management and developed content for mass media and mobile advisory platforms. His work involved close interaction with KVKs, DAATTCs, ICAR institutes, ICRISAT and other extension networks ensuring rapid dissemination of technologies and timely farmer feedback.
In research, Dr. Yakadri has executed long-term agronomic trials under AICRP on Weed Management and has authored more than ninety five papers and bulletins. As head of the Weed Management scheme of Telangana, executed a number of paid up trials leading to huge revenue generation that supported the purchase of costly Lab equipment and four Wheeler. His work spans conservation agriculture, soil health, weed ecology and adaptive technologies for rainfed and tribal farming systems. Alongside research and teaching, he has been a strong mentor for youth, encouraging higher education, competitive exam preparation and rural leadership initiatives.
