• Development of high yielding rice varieties with multiple resistance/ tolerance during vanakalam (Gall midge and BPH) and yasangi (BPH, Leaf blast and Neck blast) in early and medium duration groups.
• Evolution of high yielding extra early and early duration long slender grain rice varieties for both vanakalam and yasangi seasons.
• Development of high yielding rice varieties having resistance/tolerance to cold in early duration group for yasangi season.
• Development of innovative technologies in crop production of rice.
• Production and supply of breeder/truthfully labelled seed of rice to public/private organizations and farming community.

Released total 6 varieties from ARS, Kunaram out of 6 varieties 3 varieties viz., KNM 118 (2015); KNM 733 (2019); KNM 1638 (2021) released through SVRC and 3 viz.,  KNM 7048 (2022); KNM 6965 (2022); KNM 7037 (2023) were released through CVRC.
