Lab Background:
The Pesticide Residues laboratory was established in 1979-80 as a research scheme completely funded by the University as “Determination of Pesticide Residues” in the Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar. To address the issues of food safety, it was continuously engaged in the science of pesticide residues since 1983. Since1983, it became a part of ICAR’s All India Coordinated Research project on Pesticide Residues” with 75% funding from ICAR. During 2004, the scheme was reorganized under All India Network Project on Pesticide Residues”. From 2006 onwards, a central sector scheme “Monitoring of Pesticide Residues at National Level” with 100% GOI funding is in operation at AINP on PR& C.
It is the first laboratory in the University to receive NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for chemical testing in 2014 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 in 2020.
AINP on Pesticide Residues is a premier laboratory specializing in Pesticide Residue Analysis in fresh agricultural produce, soil and water. Accreditation has been renewed by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 which is valid up to 20th July, 2026. The scope of analysis is 79 pesticides on LC- MS/MS and 42 pesticides on GC-MS/MS.
