Rural connect- Student Social Responsibility Programme (R-SSRP)
The Rural Connect – Student Social Responsibility Programme (R-SSRP) was introduced by the University with the objective of strengthening students’ social responsibility, community engagement and experiential learning, in alignment with the University’s mandate of serving rural Telangana. Recognising the need to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world rural challenges, the University designed this programme to enable students to apply their academic knowledge for the benefit of farmers and rural communities.
R-SSRP is a voluntary, credit-based and student-led initiative, through which students plan and implement independent social and community-oriented activities related to agriculture, food systems, agricultural engineering and community development. The programme aims to promote leadership, innovation, teamwork, social consciousness and voluntary action, while also strengthening collaboration and mutual learning between the University and rural communities of Telangana.
The programme is open to all undergraduate students of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science & Technology and Community Science. Under this scheme, students are required to earn a total of 10 credits during their four-year degree programme, with one credit equivalent to 15 hours of effective social service in rural areas. Students must complete a minimum of one credit per semester, amounting to 150 hours for final certification.
The social and community activities undertaken by students are evaluated semester-wise by the College Evaluation Committee based on effectiveness, innovation and social impact. Students who successfully complete the required credits are awarded a Certificate in Student Social Responsibility (Rural Connect) by the University.
The programme is implemented across all constituent colleges from the Academic Year 2025–26, with Associate Deans responsible for coordination, monitoring, submission of semester-wise reports and certification, ensuring systematic implementation and institutional accountability.
